A Very Long Engagement

Living in England means that I miss a lot of French films I would certainly go and see if I was in France, so it's nice when they're successful or big enough to make it across the Channel, like A Very Long Engagement (Un long dimanche de fiançailles).
I was expecting to love it, as Jean-Pierre Jeunet is one of my favourite directors, but I was slightly disappointed. The photography was amazing, the war scenes stunning and frightening, the story engaging, but the characterisation was quite poor; the fact that I never managed to feel much for Mathilde and Manech, the main characters, meant that by the middle of the film I didn't really care whether she was going to find him or not. I still recommend it though, if only to hear Jodie Foster speaking perfect French.
Yes indeed. Her own voice was also used in all the French versions of her films.

Which is one of the weirdest things you can imagine - you can see her speaking English, but what you hear is her dubbing her own lines in French.
Just one related question - when she does that, does she get more money, and if so, is she paid at union rate or Jodie Foster rate? ;-)
How about a multilingual genius rate? She deserves it!
