France24
December 4, 2006
Thanks a lot Ron for letting me know about France24, a new 24 hour French news channel which will broadcast from December 6. Chirac wants it to be a "French CNN", which is quite an exciting idea, but... there doesn't seem to be much French in its promotional video. It appears that it will be broadcast on two channels, one in French and the other one in English and French. To be continued...

UPDATE
Well, France24 is live in French, in English and in Arabic, and I'm impressed so far.
Posted by céline, in Culture, on December 4, 2006In addition to Cable transmission in various places, it will apparently be found in streaming video at http://www.france24.com/static/ or whatever replaces the present static screen. Be sure to upgrade to the latest version of the Adobe Flash Player.
Posted by Ron on December 4, 2006 3:04 PMYes, it's in two languages- the front page is attractive
French http://www.france24.com/france24Public/fr/nouvelles/monde.html
English http://www.france24.com/france24Public/en/news/world.htm
But the links don't all work - not yet a rival for CNN. But as a start, it's not bad at all.
