I do quite a lot of work with local authorities desperately trying to solve the waste crisis in the area, so I knew the term "nimby" (Not In My Back Yard), which describes people who refuse to have anything new built near their home (and particularly not anything to do with waste). I learnt a new one during a recent meeting for people who are slightly more extreme than that: "banana" (Build Absolutely Nothing Anywhere Near Anyone). No need to explain this one.
